WNY Boys Lacrosse Roundup: Thursday, 4/11 – Saturday, 4/13

Boys lacrosse results and highlights from Week Four games played April 11th – April 13th.

Thursday, April 11th

Williamsville East 15 – Sweet Home 1

The Flames improved to 8-0 in 2019 and helped earn head coach Ed Greenway his 300th victory as head man at East. The Flames’ fast paced offense got moving quickly and passed the ball a lot, as ten different players scored goals. Ryan Mitchell led with 3 goals, followed by Clayton Osborne, Jordan Polk, and Frank Annunziata who tallied 2 each. Sam Meltser, Dom Piccillo, Dylan Schihl, Henri Tetrault, Colson Skorka, Aidan Comerford each recorded 1 goal. The Panthers’ Patrick McGregor had a busy afternoon in net but stood up to the Flames’ offensive barrage. Lucas Marshall scored the lone Sweet Home goal.

Niagara Wheatfield 14 – Williamsville North 11

The Falcons won a critical game to move ahead of North into third place in the current Class B standings. Neither team plays again until next week. Wheatfield improved to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the class while North drops to 4-4, 3-2 in Class B. The Falcons have scored double digit points in all seven games this season. Jordy Smith led the Falcons in scoring with 4 goals and an assist. Chase Chapman notched 2 goals and 2 assists, and JT Hamby recorded 16 ground balls.

Hamburg 13 – West Seneca West 2

The Bulldogs held the Indians to their season low goals total at home Thursday after allowing 14 Niagara Wheatfield scores on Tuesday. The defending Class B champions improved to 6-1 this season and host Section V’s returning Class B sectional runner-up Webster-Thomas on Saturday. Brett Chiodo notched 7 points against West, to include 3 scores and 4 assists. Brock Schneider netted 2 goals and 2 assists, and Brian Colmerauer recorded 3 goals for the ‘Dawgs. West falls to 4-5 and visits a dangerous Clarence squad on Friday.

Frontier 17 – North Tonawanda 5

The Falcons got their first win of the season. The Falcons visit Williamsville South on Saturday. NT hosts Williamsville North on Tuesday.

Orchard Park 17 – Eden 3

The Quakers improved to 8-0 overall and have scored at least 14 goals in every game this season. Eden falls to 3-4 overall but have played a ridiculous schedule to this point. This was the seventh home game out of nine home stands to start the season for the Raiders. Enrollment comparison: Orchard Park 2018-2019 BEDS: 1144. Eden, 317.

East Rochester (V) 13 – City Honors 12

City Honors/BPS lost a close one at home to the Bombers. The Centaurs host Clarence and visit Orchard Park next week.

St. Joe’s 16 – Bishop Timon 6

Kellen Pulera netted 5 goals and added 2 assists, Hunter Parucki recorded 3 goals and 2 assists, and three more players scored at least two goals to help the Marauders to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in league play. Austin Holley had another big day going 16/17 in faceoffs and scooping up 13 ground balls.

Friday, April 12th

West Seneca East 23 – Lake Shore/Silver Creek 11

In a battle of two teams that have been surging as of late, the Trojans showed what their offense is capable of in scoring their season high goal total to keep pace in the Class C standings. Garrett Walker again led East in goal scoring with 7 goals and 3 assists. Shaun Dolac tied Walker’s 10 points with 3 scores and 7 assists. Tyler Arndt netted 4 goals and 2 assists, and Nick Hamme made 16 saves in net for the 3-3 Trojans.

Clarence 5 – West Seneca West 4

The Red Devils caught another team that has been playing well lately with a Friday night home win over the Indians. Scoring results not submitted.

Salamanca 12 – Medina 8

The Warriors improved to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in Class D. Next for Salamanca is a home game with the Akron Tigers on Tuesday. Medina visits Eden on Monday. Scoring results not submitted.

Lockport 10 – Wilson 9

The Lions won their third game of the season and second in a row. Lockport hosts Williamsville East on Tuesday. Enrollment comparison: 2018-2019 BEDS – Lockport 1038, Wilson, 296. Scoring results not submitted.

Amherst 18 – Depew 4

The Tigers moved up in the Class C standings with a big win on the road. At 5-4 overall and 4-2 in class, Amherst sits in second place behind only East Aurora. Amherst faces off at home with Main Street rival Williamsville South next Thursday. Scoring results not submitted.

Grand Island 9 – Lewiston-Porter 5

The Vikings posted their second straight win after beating Gowanda on Monday. Scoring results not submitted.

Saturday, April 13th

Webster-Thomas (V) 10 – Hamburg 8

The 2018 Section V Class B runner-up handed the Bulldogs their second loss of the season to a Section V team. Scoring results not submitted.

Penfield (V) 10 – Orchard Park 8

The Quakers dropped their first home contest of the season to the 2018 Section V Class A champion. Scoring results not submitted.

Pittsford (V) 12 – Lancaster 5

The Legends dropped their first home game of the season to a tough Pittsford squad. Lancaster hosts Orchard Park on Tuesday. Scoring results not submitted.

Williamsville South 11 – Frontier 6

The Billies improved to 5-4 overall with a home win. Ben Carey and Matt Buchnowski scored 3 goals apiece. Carey chipped in 4 assists as well. Grayson Gare and Luke Vredenburg scored 2 goals each and Jon Clifford added 1. Mitch Kiebala made 12 saves in net for South. Weston Ferro stopped 19 shots for Frontier. Nick Rogers had a busy day scoring 2 goals, adding 2 assists, picking up 9 ground balls, and went 6 for 6 in faceoffs for the Falcons.

St. Joe’s 13 – Brighton (V) 11

The Marauders were victorious in a battle of upstate heavy weights to remain undefeated at 7-0. Hunter Parucki netted 2 goals and assisted on 5 more. Kellen Pulera and Evan Mulderig recorded 3 goals each. Trey Gehen notched 2 goals, and three more players found the net once. Austin Holley was 17 for 24 on faceoffs and Jack Rapini made 14 saves in net for ‘Joe’s.
