Boys lacrosse results and highlights from Week Seven games played May 2nd – May 4th.

Thursday, May 2nd

Hamburg 9 – Williamsville East 2

The Class B heavyweights met for the first time this season with the battle-hardened Bulldogs earning the win. Spencer Nyhart scored 3 times while Brock Schneider recorded 2 goals and 2 assists. Hamburg improved to 8-4 overall with the win and will meet the Flames on the road on May 14th in the regular season finale for both clubs. Before meeting East again the ‘Dawgs will have to get through Orchard Park and Clarence.

East Aurora 9 – Lancaster 8 (OT)

The Class C leading Blue Devils earned a statement win at home over the returning Class A champions. Jack Rogers scored the game winning goal off an assist from Brock Roldan with a man down in overtime to beat the Legends. East Aurora improves to 9-2 overall but will play its last four games on the road, including games at Class C rivals Lake Shore (Wed 5/8), West Seneca East (Mon 5/13), and Iroquois (Wed 5/15).

St. Joe’s 15 – Nichols 8

Scoring for the Marauders were Ryan McGorry with 4 goals and 2 assists, Hunter Parucki with 2 goals and 3 assists, Evan Mulderig and Max DeFranks with 3 scores each, and Kellen Pulera, Cole Campbell, and Sam Latorre with a score each. Austin Holley won 19 of 20 faceoffs for the 12-1 Marauders.

West Seneca West 16 – Sweet Home 2

The Indians got a win in Class B on senior night. George Newcomb and Steve Lucas each recorded 4 goals and an assist. Kyle Haettich scored once but added 5 assists for the Indians while Jake Cooper scored 3 times, Evan Sherk netted 2, and Mike Velasquez found the net once.

Niagara Wheatfield 21 – North Tonawanda 2

Scoring for the Falcons were Chase Chapman with 4 goals and 3 assists and Jaren Dixon with 2 goals and 2 assists. JT Hamby was 14 of 17 in faceoffs for the 7-3 Falcons. Wheatfield has four road games in their remaining five, all of which will be against quality teams.

Amherst 14 – Williamsville South 7

The Tigers took down their Main Street rival for the teams’ seventh win on the season and fourth in a row. Scoring results not submitted.

Friday, May 3rd

Iroquois 20 – Lake Shore 9

The Chiefs stifled an Eagles attack that put up huge numbers earlier this season in the only meeting between the Class C rivals. After starting 1-3, Iroquois has won its last six games and sits at 7-3 at week end. Scoring results not submitted.

Clarence 19 – Niagara Wheatfield 2

The Red Devils completely flipped the script on the normally high scoring Falcons at home on Friday night. Clarence hosts five more games before season’s end all against quality competition suggesting there may be another upset or two in there. Scoring results not submitted.

Williamsville North 11 – Spencerport (V) 7

With three wins in Week Seven the Spartans seem to be reaching their potential at the right time of the season. With only three games left on the schedule North hosts two good teams in West Seneca West and Niagara Wheatfield in two of them. Scoring results not submitted.

Akron 17 – Medina 7

Akron improved to 7-3 this season and 4-2 in Class D with a win over the local rival Mustangs. Kaleb Delaney recorded 6 scores and an assist for Akron. Ryan Yaeger added 4 scores and 2 assists while Donovan Nephew netted 4 goals himself for the Tigers. Millard Young notched 2 scores and 3 assists as well. Christian Silversmith recorded his 100th career goal as a Medina Mustang.

Salamanca 18 – Lewiston-Porter 1

Xavier Taylor had a nine point night for the Warriors scoring 6 goals and contributing 3 assists. Salamanca improves to 9-1 overall in 2019.

Grand Island 8 – Depew 2

Despite a slow offensive production, Depew’s Ben Yelich recorded 23 saves for a 74% save percentage giving the Wildcats something positive to work with.

Kenmore 8 – Frontier 7 (OT)

Seamus McPhee recorded 4 goals including the overtime game winner to help the ‘Devil Dogs’ improve to 6-3 on the year. PJ Abbott recorded 2 goals and Lucas Correa and Papuch Schmoyer scored once each for Kenmore in the win.

City Honors 18 – Gow 2

Drew Westmoreland scored 9 goals for the Lakemen in a Class D win.

Saturday, May 4th

St. Joe’s 10 – McQuaid Jesuit (V) 7

The Marauders improved to 13-1 overall with a road win over a tough Knights squad. Kellen Pulera led ‘Joe’s with 3 goals and an assist. Ryan McGorry recorded 2 goals and 2 assists while Cole Campbell added 3 scores. Evan Mulderig and Trevor Galante each scored once as well. Austin Holley went 14 for 18 in faceoffs and also picked up a team high 11 ground balls.
