WNY Boys Lacrosse Roundup: Thursday, May 9th – Saturday, May 11th

Boys lacrosse results and highlights from Week Eight games played May 9th – May 11th.

Thursday, May 9th

Hamburg 7 – Orchard Park 6

The Bulldogs were victorious in a neighborly rivalry which also happened to feature the top teams in Class A and Class B. It was an impressive win for the ‘Dawgs who visit Clarence and Williamsville East to end the season. Scoring results not submitted.

West Seneca West 11 – Niagara Wheatfield 9

The Indians earned a hard won game in Sanborn in what was a critical Class B showdown. The Indians have won three in a row while the Falcons fell shy of double digit goals for only the second time this season. Kyle Haettich led West with 4 goals and 2 assists. Jojo Hoover notched 2 goals and 3 assists for Wheatfield. Eli Dowdy netted 4 scores while Chase Chapman added a score and an assist.

Iroquois 23 – Lake Shore 10

The Chiefs rebounded strong on Thursday after having dropped two in a row in a game that was very important to stay afloat among the Class C leaders. Iroquois improved to 8-5 overall and 6-2 in the class. Scoring results not submitted.

Kenmore 8 – Batavia 3 (V)

Seamus McPhee led with 3 goals and an assist while Alex Ghosen and Frank DiGennaro each recorded 2 scores. Lucas Correa also scored once to help the Devil Dogs earn their 7th win in their inaugural varsity season.

Lewiston-Porter 19 – North Tonawanda 7

Make it three straight wins for the Lancers. Dan Gambino led the team again with 6 goals. Joe Powers and Jack Evert each added 5 goals and three more Lancers added one score each.

St. Joe’s 18 – Bishop Timon 3

The Marauders went big on senior day as eight different players found the net. Kellen Pulera recorded 7 points by way of 5 scores and 2 assists. Evan Mulderig notched 3 scores and an assist while Cole Campbell and Edward Klute each netted 2 goals. Campbell also added 2 assists for the 15-1 Marauders. Four more players found the net once each for ‘Joe’s and Trevor Galante assisted on 4 scores in the win.

Williamsville East 13 – Frontier 3

Friday, May 10th

Amherst 13 – Medina 1

Amherst won its seventh straight contest in an interclass battle and with it head coach Stefan Henn’s 300th career win as coach of the Tigers.

Akron 19 – Niagara Wheatfield 15

Senior defenseman Timothy Longwell was key in the win for Akron, scoring a goal, collecting 4 takeaways, and scooping 12 ground balls. The Tigers improved to 9-4 overall while the Falcons fell to 8-6. Scoring for Wheatfield were Eli Dowdy with 4 goals and Zack Lloyd and Jaren Dixon both with 2 goals and 2 assists.

Hilton (V) 12 – Williamsville East 3

Joe Amici had a busy night in goal for the Flames making 19 saves in the loss. Ryan Mitchell, Clayton Osborne, and Dylan Schihl scored once each for East (12-3 overall, 7-2 Class B).

Saturday, May 11th

Hamburg 11 – Clarence 5

Brett Chiodo netted 5 goals and Brock Schneider 2 goals and an assist to help the Bulldogs hold off a dangerous Red Devils team. Bo Johnson was critical at the face off for the ‘Dawgs winning 10 of 17. He picked up 15 ground balls and also scored a goal and contributed one assist.

Kenmore 13 – North Tonawanda 1

The Devil Dogs earned their 8th win of the season. PJ Abbott was fantastic at the faceoff with a solid 93% win rate. Abbott also scored a goal and helped on 3 more scores. Seamus McPhee tallied 5 points by way of 4 goals and an assist and Brendan Bastian made 16 saves in net for Kenmore.

St. Joe’s 8 – Ballston Spa (II) 5

The Marauders hosted one the Albany area’s top teams on Saturday. Midfielder Ryan McGorry was ‘Joe’s top scorer with 3 goals, an assist, and 3 ground balls. Hunter Parucki netted a score and 2 assists, Cody McEvoy added 2 scores, and Cole Campbell and Evan Mulderig each scored once for the 16-1 Marauders. Austin Holley won 13 of 14 face offs and picked up 8 ground balls. Jack Rapini made 16 stops in net for the win.
