WNY Football Friday Recap: Week 4

Class AA

Williamsville North 24 Orchard Park 21

The Spartans rallied from a 14 point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the visiting Quakers 24-21. Eddie Bianco kicked a 47-yard FG with 15 seconds left to give Will North the lead. North improves to 4-0 and will travel to Jamestown (4-0) next Thursday. OP is now 1-3 on the year. They’ll face a winless Lockport (idle Friday) next Saturday.

Clarence 35 Frontier 14

The Red Devils offense came back to life Friday night in a big way by beating Frontier 35-14. Jacob Reger only had seven carries in the game but he made the most out of them, finding the end zone on four of them. Clarence improves their record to 2-2 overall.

Class A

West Seneca West 55 Hamburg 0

Matt Myers threw 4 TD’s and rushed for another two before the half, leading West Seneca West to a 55-0 rout of Hamburg. Juston Johnson caught two of Myers first half TD tosses. The Indians improve to 4-0 and will face Lackawanna from Class B, who is also undefeated at 4-0 next Friday.

West Seneca East 58 Amherst 16

West Seneca East set a new school, single-game record for most points scored in their 58-16 win over Amherst. Jacob Maurino a Connolly Cup nominee last week had three TD’s to lead the Trojans. Shaun Dolac had a big game as well recovering two fumbles and scoring a rushing touchdown. West Seneca East is now 3-1 and just a game back of rival West Seneca West for the division lead.

Williamsville East 27 Sweet Home 7

The Flames win for the first time on their new turf field and are now 2-2 overall in Class A North. Will East kept Sweet Home’s (playing without leading rusher Dylan McDuffie) running game in check, limiting the Panthers to just 80 yards in the ground. Flames QB Colson Skorka scored a rushing TD and threw another in the win. Sweet Home will play Kenmore East (1-3) next week Friday at home while Williamsville East welcomes North Tonawanda (1-3) on Thursday.

Williamsville South 26 Grand Island 15

The Vikings couldn’t protect a fourth quarter lead Friday and fell to the Billies 26-15 taking their first loss of the season. Williamsville South RB Jemelle Jones rushed for over 150-yards and scored two TD’s in the win. It was Will South’s first victory on their new turf field. Grand Island is now 3-1 overall and next face Starpoint (4-0) Friday at home Meanwhile the Billies head to Crosby Field Thursday to play the Kenmore West Blue Devils (1-3).

North Tonawanda 42 Kenmore West 26

The Lumberjacks put up 28 points in the 2nd Quarter in route to a 42-26 win over visiting Kenmore West. Rhett Stauffer threw two TD passes to Matt Monge to help lead North Tonawanda to their first win of the season. Faisal Ahmedi threw a pair of Touchdown’s for the Blue Devils who have now lost three in a row.

Starpoint 57 Kenmore East 13

Aaron Chase threw for 255 yards and five TDs versus Kenmore East Friday to lead Starpoint to a 57-13 win at Tudor Stadium. Chase now holds the school record for most yards thrown and TD’s in a single game.

Iroquois 43 Lake Shore 0

Iroquois is back in the win column after blanking Lake Shore 43-0 Friday. The Chiefs are tied with West Seneca East in the Class A South division at 3-1 respectively. They have a huge test next Saturday when they face South Park (3-0).

Class B

Depew 22 Fred/West/Broc 9

Dunkirk 28 Olean 0

Jaziah Rivera rushed for two TD’s and threw for another to lead Dunkirk over Olean 28-0 in a highly anticipated Class B2 match-up. The Marauders defense kept the Huskies offense in check, allowing just 73 yards of total offense. Dunkirk improves to 4-0 and will head to Southwestern next Saturday who are also unbeaten, play at Cleve-Hill today.

Albion 58 Barker/Roy-Hart 6

Lackawanna 28 Medina/LA Web 8

Steelers senior running back Khalil Horton ran all over Medina Friday night to help Lackawanna remain undefeated Friday. Horton rushed for over 180 yards and scored three TDs. The Mustangs have now dropped three straight.

Newfane 50 Tonawanda 0

Newfane improves to 3-1 overall in Class C after beating Tonawanda 50-0 on the road. Senior’s Julian Nixon and Brandon Gross combined for 345 yards rushing and seven TD’s. Nixon also finished with 11 tackles on defense.

Cheektowaga 46 Alden 23

Action packed from the start. Two high-powered offenses went toe-to-toe Friday with the Warriors pulling away for the 46-23 win. The score was much closer than it looked as the Bulldogs hung in there with the top team in Class B1. Keshone Beal was on fire as usual, he accounted for 5 Cheektowaga touchdowns, 3 threw the air and two rushing. The Warriors take their talents to Burgard (2-2) next Friday.

Pioneer 26 EA/Holland 6

Class C

CV/Falc 43 Eden/NC 16

Silver Creek/Forestville 13 Akron 6

Another tough loss for the Tigers who may have been looking past Silver Creek. Jacob Sarow was held to 81 yards and a TD for Akron.

Class D

Catt/LV 35 Portville 14

Maple Grove 34 Chautauqua Lake 8

Nick Fabrizio carried the football thirty-nine times and rushed for 252 yards and 4 TD’s in Maple Grove’s 34-8 win over Chautauqua Lake. Easton Tanner returned the opening kick-off 97-yards for the Red Dragons who never trailed in this game. Both teams are now 2-1 in Class D standings.

Franklinville/Ellicottville 53 Salamanca 13

The Titans continue it’s dominance of Class D with a decisive 53-13 win over Salamanca. Franklinville/Ellicottville (FE) allowed two scores late in the game but it was never close. FE travels to JFK next Saturday for a non-conference game.

Non-League

Jamestown 56 Springville 14

Freshman Savon Van Sickle caught two TD passes and rushed for another two scores to lead the Red Raiders over the Griffins. Jamestown is undefeated heading into week 5 when they play at home against Williamsville North, also undefeated.

Randolph/Frewsburg 30 All-Limestone 13

First win for Randolph/Frewsburg since the teams were forced to merge last August.
