Bennett did Will North dirty.
Aaron Smith the Tigers senior quarterback flung a last second “Hail Mary” pass towards the Spartans end zone and it fell into the waiting arms of teammate Jakari Nettles for the go-ahead touchdown Friday. Smith was credited with a 50-yard TD pass. The Tigers move to 3-1 overall but more important, 3-0 in the division.
North on the other hand finds themselves in a bit of trouble at 1-2, tied with three other teams for the final playoff spot.
Lancaster remains unbeaten
Jason Mansell tossed two TD passes and Brandon Wingard rushed for 176 yards as the Legends defeated Clarence (1-3, 0-3). Jack Putney threw three touchdowns including 2 in the fourth quarter but the comeback attempt fell short.
Niagara Falls is in the win column
The Wolverines (1-3, 1-2) beat Hutch-Tech (1-3, 0-3) 20-14 on Saturday. Here’s the crazy part, all the scoring was done in overtime! Willie McDougald’s 10-yard rushing TD secured the victory for Niagara Falls.
Anthony Whitfield scored two TD’s in OT and converted a 2-point conversion for the Engineers.
Class A1
Indians make it 19 in a row
West Seneca West (4-0, 3-0) looks as unbeatable now as they did a year ago. The Indians blanked Hamburg (1-3, 0-3) 42-0 in the Bulldogs backyard. Senior wide receiver Juston Johnson caught three passes for 112 yards and a TD.
Jamestown stuns Falcons
The Niagara Wheatfield (3-1, 2-1) bus ride down to Strider Field in Jamestown was a breeze compared to the one they had on the way home. The Red Raiders (2-2, 2-1) stunned the previously unbeaten Falcons 26-14 in a game that was delayed due to the impending weather.
Jamestown senior linebacker Grant Moore’s 39-yard pick-6 in the first half set the tone. Teammate Francisco Rodriguez had two touchdown runs to help lead the Red Raiders in the win.
Blue Devils win two in a row
Junior quarterback Zac Boyes had his best game as a varsity starter Friday tossing four TD’s in Kenmore West’s 38-13 win over Frontier (0-4, 0-3). Senior Joe Stewart was on the receiving end of three of those TD passes and rushed for another. The Blue Devils head to Niagara Wheatfield next Friday for a rare night game.
Class A2
Sionko stays hot, leads Vikes
If there was any doubt about Cam Sionko having lingering effects from a week one injury he put them all to bed Friday. Sionko, the Grand Island senior quarterback led the Vikings (3-1, 3-0O to an impressive34-15 win over North Tonawanda (1-3, 1-2). Sionko finished with over 300 yards passing and tossed three TD’s of 76, 15 and 5 respectively.
Macks roll Bulldogs
McKinley (2-2, 2-1) took a 13-7, second quarter lead and never looked back. The Macks defeated Kenmore East (1-3, 1-2) 53-20 at Sparky Adams Field, spoiling “Senior Night” for the Bulldogs.
Flames down Panthers
Williamsville East (2-2, 2-1) hung 44 on Sweet Home (0-4, 0-3) Friday for their second win of the season. The Flames and Panthers scored a combined 49 points in the second half.
Although Sweet Home remains winless, they are starting to see some positive signs from junior quarterback Jamel Lucas who went 6-of-8 for 110 yards passing and threw a touchdown Friday.
Class A3
Sparks dominance continues
South Park (4-0, 3-0) took down Amherst (1-3, 0-3) 40-8 with Dabeyon Humphrey leading the charge. The senior quarterback threw for 161 yards and two scores. Elijah Lewis gave the Sparks a nice jump start with his 22-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
Trojans woke
Stunning to many but not if you’re from West Seneca East. To date (this season), there wasn’t a defense that Starpoint (3-1, 2-1) senior quarterback couldn’t shred. That is until last Friday when the Spartans (4-0, 3-0) offense me their match. Senior linebacker Shaun Dolac and his gang had another agenda and poured in one heck of a performance, winning 59-22.
The Trojans scored the first 38 points, silencing the Starpoint faithful that traveled to watch the game.
Head coach Jim Maurino, who hinted that last season was his last, has done a fantastic job with the WSE defense. Two early turnovers that the Trojans created turned into touchdowns, which helped set the tone.
Joey “Bats” leads Billies
Joey Battaglia threw five touchdown passes last Thursday night as Williamsville South (1-3, 1-2) defeated Maritime Charter/Health Sciences (0-4, 0-3). Jemelle Jones had two rushing scores in the Billies 41-8 win.
Class B1
Duprey’s Panthers on top of Class B1
Pioneer (4-0, 4-0) proved Friday night without a shadow of a doubt that they were going to be a player in Class B this season. The Panthers beat Cheektowaga (3-1, 3-1) 33-14 on the road in one of the more lopsided victories of the evening. Senior running back Mike Rigerman took control in the second half scoring four touchdowns leading Pioneer to the top of the Class B1 standings.
The Warriors had trouble bringing down Rigerman, much like Maryvale did a week prior.
Flyers offense back in the swing
A week after suffering a loss the Maryvale Flyers (3-1, 21) went back to work and came out victorious 48-12 at Iroquois (1-3, 1-3). Rashad Law scored on a 69-yard run and Connor Desiderio threw two touchdowns to lead the Flyers over the Chiefs.
With a heavy heart, Previtte leads Lancers to first win
Sophomore running back Frank Previtte scored three touchdowns to lead Lew-Port (1-3, 1-2) 34-12 over Lake Shore (1-3, 1-2) just days after losing his mother after a six-month battle with Leukemia. Our hearts and thoughts go out to the entire family.
EA/Holland falls in close one
In a non-leaguer East Aurora/Holland (0-4, 0-3) fell to the Akron Tigers 13-7.
Class B2
Albion still undefeated
The Purple Eagles (4-0, 3-0) remain unbeaten after shutting out the Depew Wildcats (0-4, 0-4) 35-0. Brilliamce Johnson had two touchdown runs while teammate Ugene Harrison led all rushers with 96 yards.
Huskies make it three straight
After dropping their first game, the Olean Huskies (3-1, 3-1) have now won three games in a row. The Huskies survived a close one by defeating Medina/Lyndonville/Barker (3-1, 2-1) 14-13, handing the Mustangs their first loss of the season.
Steelers take it to Griffins
Jeremiah Caviness threw two touchdown passes in Lackawanna’s (3-1, 2-1) 26-8 win over Springville (0-4, 0-3). The Steelers have won two in a row to help stay in the playoff hunt in B2.
Class B3
Warriors on a roll
Tonawanda can add back-to-back wins to the list of accomplishments in 2018. The Warriors (2-2, 2-2) defeated Alden (0-4, 0-3) Friday night 27-0. It was the first time Tonawanda shut out an opponent in 11 years. Ian Summerson had a pick-6 and captain Zach Braddell had over 200 yards rushing and a score to help lead the Warriors.
Marauders improve to 4-0
Dunkirk was in a tight one on Saturday up in Newfane. The Marauders led 8-6 after the first quarter and the game score remained the same until the third quarter. Dunkirk scored 22 points in the second half to beat the Panthers 30-6.
Fredonia/Brocton win close one
The Hillbillies haven’t been in any close games in a while but that changed Friday when they hosted Cassadaga/Falconer. Fredonia/Brocton (4-0, 3-0) pulled out a 24-19 win to remain undefeated.
Burgard blanks Eden/North Collins
The Bulldogs (2-2, 2-1) picked up their first win since week 1 by beating Eden/North Collins (1-3, 0-3) 36-0 Friday.
Class C North
Thomas, Wahler delivering the goods for Cleve-Hill
Javon Thomas and Aaron Wahler each had impressive days out of the backfield for the Golden Eagles (3-1, 3-0). Thomas led the way with 112 yards rushing and two scores while Wahler picked up 106 yards on the ground and had three touchdowns in Cleve-Hill’s 46-7 win over Roy-Hart 0-4, 0-3).
Wilson edges Gowanda/Pine Valley
The Lakeman (3-1, 3-1) stay within a game of Cleve-Hill after edging out Gowanda/Pine Valley 7-6 (2-2, 2-2) Friday night.
Bears come up big in 4th Quarter
JFK scored 24 points in the fourth quarter to down Silver Creek/Forestville 32-22 Friday afternoon. It was the Bears (1-3, 1-2) first win of the season. Senior Zack Manzella had a 75 yard fumble return to help sway the momentum in JFK’s favor. Junior quarterback Jax Lighten ran for a 27 yard score, threw a 37 yard TD and was successful on four 2-point conversions. Silver Creek/Forestville (2-2, 2-2) had won their previous two games.

Ground attack leads Randolph over Chautauqua Lake
Randolph/Frewsburg (3-1, 2-1) rushed for a combined 413 yards Saturday in a 40-19 win over Chautauqua Lake (2-2, 2-2). Nick Marsh and Tyler Hind each had two rushing touchdowns and combined for three interceptions in the win.
FE Titans bounce back with a win
After being shut out last week the Franklinville/Ellicottville Titans (2-2, 1-2) found a way to win on Friday defeating Portville 28-7. It was the Titans first divisional win of the season. The Panthers (1-3, 1-2) take on Chautauqua Lake next Friday.
Late Allegany-Limestone rally falls short
After spotting Southwestern a 21-0 lead the Allegany-Limestone football team woke up. Ben Giardini caught a 29 yard TD pass from Logan Klice to pull the Gators to within two scores. On Allegany-Limestone’s next possession, Klice scored on an 80-yard TD run. Unfortunately that’s as close as they would come to tying the game as the teams played a scoreless fourth quarter.
Cole Snyder threw two TD’s for the Trojans giving him 16 on the season.

Wolfpack still perfect
In the only Class D football game played this weekend Clymer/Sherman/Panama defeated Salamanca 47-19. CSP (4-0, 3-0) and Salamanca (1-3, 1-2) began playing the game on Friday evening but tornado warnings in the immediate area forced the teams to the locker rooms and play for the day was stopped. Saturday morning the game resumed with the Wolfpack leading 20-7.

Cathedral Prep 52, Canisius 15
The Crusaders took one on the chin Friday night in Erie, PA. Next Friday they take on rival St. Joe’s at New Era Field in Orchard Park.
Marauders derailed by Aquinas
St. Joe’s ventured out to play Section-V’s Aquinas Saturday and fared no better than rival Canisius a week earlier. The Marauders lost 49-21. David Morgan had two touchdowns for St. Joe’s.
Red Raiders beat Hawks in high-scoring affair
St. Francis sophomore quarterback Jacob Ritts continues to make a name for himself, leading the Red Raiders to a 48-34 win over a tough Cardinal O’Hara squad. Ritts threw five TD’s and scored one with his legs as the Red Raiders accumulated 374 yards of total offense.
O’Hara trailed 35-12 in the third quarter but battled back with CJ Masters tossing two TD’s to cut the Hawks deficit 35-28. But the Red Raiders offense was just too much, Dominik Thomas finished with 7 catches for 155 yards and 4 TD’s.
