WNY Wrestling Dual Meet Roundup Nine

**#4 Hamburg/Eden 45 – HM Frontier 22**

H/E took home the ‘Hamburg Hammer’ for the first time as the Bulldogs and Falcons ended their dual schedules with a cross-town inter-league friendly on Legion Drive. Since H/E’s move to ECIC II this season, the teams missed out on their usual ECIC I dual but kept the local rivalry alive as the schools are less than ten minutes apart. This time however, the teams battled for the ‘Hammer’ – a creation by Henry Carney of Kilted Eagle Woodworking – which is exactly like what it sounds: a realistic sized wooden sledgehammer with the Bulldog and Falcon engraved on either side! In the dual itself, Hamburg collected eight wins to Frontier’s five and recorded five pins to two for the Falcons as the Bulldogs honored their seniors and alumni. Hamburg completes the 2022-2023 campaign with a 16-4 overall record and #4 ranking amongst WNY big schools.

**#3 Niagara Falls 66 – CSAT 6**

The Wolverines collect eleven pins in the win to conclude their 2022-2023 league dual season, finishing in 2nd place with a 6-1 NFL record and 12-3 overall. Falls honored its seniors as well as they said goodbye to an experienced and battle-tested group of ten seniors led by Jaden Crumpler, Amarfio Reynolds, Jr, Mike Syposs, and Grady Peterson.

**Kenmore 72 – Lewiston-Porter 0**

The DevilDogs get their 4th NFL win this season to tie North Tonawanda and Grand Island all with identical 4-3 final records in the conference.

**#7 Lancaster 49 – HM Frontier 22**

The Legends complete the 2022-2023 season a perfect 6-0 to capture the ECIC I title outright for the third straight year (not counting the spring 2021 season). The division championship is the 26th in program history. With anywhere from 1-2 forfeits and a number of up and coming, but still otherwise inexperienced wrestlers in the lineup, Coach Schaefer, Coach Becker, and staff made it work winning four of their six league duals by margins of 12, 10, 7, and 1 against a field of quality teams; four of ECIC I’s seven teams competed at the Section VI Duals and six of the seven can be found in the WNY large school power rankings. The Legends earned six head to head wins in the dual which was also the teams’ 10th win of the season.

**#4 Southwestern 42 – #6 Randolph 24**

The Trojans get their 11th win of the season and take down the #6 Cardinals at home to conclude the 2022-2023 dual meet schedule across WNY! SW gets six wins out of the eight head to head matches for the CCAA crossover win.
