**#6 Randolph 45 – HM Frewsburg 21**
The Cardinals come out on top in the CCAA II showdown of the last two 3-0 teams. Every weight was contested in the dual with the exception of 285, not bad for two schools with nearly identical (and small) BEDS numbers (Randolph 213, Frewsburg 212). Randolph won eight weight classes, six by pin. Caden Inkley/Domanik Clark at 138/145 has been a nice duo right in the middle of the lineup for the Cardinals this season. Randolph could win the league title outright next Weds. with a win at home against Franklinville. Meanwhile, Frewsburg hosts Portville for 2nd place in the league and bragging rights on the line next Wednesday.
**#5 Pioneer 58 – HM Lake Shore 15**
Pioneer improved to 4-0 in ECIC II while hosting a packed house for Generations Night at the home of the Panthers. Pioneer won ten weight classes, six by pin in front of dozens of alumni and legendary Panther wrestlers including past head coach and Upstate New York Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame member Dick Post. Only two league matches stand between Pioneer and a 9th straight ECIC title.
**#3 Falconer/Cassadaga Valley 58 – Eisenhower (PA) 21**
**East Aurora/Holland 46 – Olean/Allegany-Limestone 24**
**Grand Island 51 – Canisius 18**
**Wednesday, 1/11**
**#1 Chautauqua Lake 42 – #4 Southwestern 20**
A CCAA I showdown of league unbeaten squads in Lakewood featured both the Section VI Div. II duals champion and 4th place teams. CL captured eight wins and five pins in the contest to five wins for the Trojans who were held without a pin in the dual. With a 21-20 lead and only four weights left, the heart of the T’Brids lineup sealed the win with two pins, a forfeit, and a decision. A number of CL wrestlers did nice jobs conserving team points where SW may have been expecting to maximize team points as well. Chautauqua Lake now sits at 5-0 in CCAA I and can win the league outright at home next week should they defeat the eleven-time defending league champion Falconer Golden Falcons for a third time this season.
**#8 St. Francis 39 – #4 Amherst 28**
After a tough weekend in Section V, the Red Raiders bounced back with a road win against a quality Tigers team coming off a 4th place finish at the Section VI Duals. The Raiders collected five pins to only one for Amherst, and eight wins to the Tigers’ five, two of which were forfeits. Tucker Jobe (160) and Joe Littlejohn (172) earned back to back decisions in the fourth and third to last weights of the night for a 33-22 Raiders lead before Brandon Drummond sealed the win with a pin at 189-pounds. St. Francis will travel to Kenmore Ave next Friday for a showdown with the Marauders that will have big Msgr. Martin league title implications.
**#10 Clarence 43 – HM Frontier 24**
The Red Devils avenged an opening weekend 42-30 loss to Frontier with a road win on Wednesday to improve to 3-1 in ECIC I. Clarence collected eight wins, four pins, and two forfeits in the contest. Reilly Popa was not in the lineup and Bryce Hawes was pinned in their first meeting from Dec. 3. This time, the heavyweight duo collected critical pins at 215 and 285-pounds, respectively, for a massive points swing in favor of Clarence. The Devils host the Border War with Lancaster next week in another crucial ECIC I showdown with league title implications on the line. The Legends were 39-28 winners in their first meeting at the Section VI Duals on 1/7.
**#5 Lancaster 42 – HM Orchard Park 30**
The Legends survive at home against a quality Quakers squad to improve to 4-0 in ECIC I duals and remain the only unbeaten left in the league. OP led 30-24 with three weights to go and two of their top wrestlers on deck. However, Lancaster standouts finished the dual as Mikey Schaefer earned a huge pin at 189-pounds followed by an Evan Stencel pin at 215. Tommy Carlsen capped off the scoring with a pin at 285 for three straight pins to end the dual on an 18-0 run for the Legends.
**#1 Starpoint 51 – #6 Hamburg/Eden 12**
**NO FORFEITS.** 4-0 ECIC II squads met on Wednesday night for a full slate of matches that produced some significant head to head results. Take note of Jaron Barrientos over Trevor DellaPenta, 9-3 at 110, and Kenny Schmitz over Caden Barrientos, 5-1 at 126. Also, sectional place winner Kole Haseley pushed returning sectional champion Bryce DellaPenta at 118-pounds, falling by decision 12-6. Overall, Starpoint collected ten wins in the dual with six being pins. The Spartans improve to 5-0 in ECIC II and can secure the outright league title next week with a win at Amherst. H/E sits at 4-1 in the division with their league finale scheduled for Jan. 27th at Amherst.
**#2 Newfane 49 – #8 Medina 21**
The Panthers improved to 4-0 in the N-O with a road win at the other last league unbeaten team. JJ Lucinski has had a really nice junior year campaign so far and secured an impressively fast pin over another returning sectional place winner against Medina. A win next Wednesday at home against Barker/Royalton-Hartland could secure Newfane’s 9th straight N-O title and league unbeaten season. The Panthers will host a dangerous St. Francis squad the night before. Newfane and St. Francis have met in a dual for over 40 years, the longest active head to head streak amongst WNY high school wrestling teams.
**Kenmore 48 – HM North Tonawanda 21**
The DevilDogs avenged an opening weekend loss (42-27 NT) for a huge home Niagara Frontier League rivalry win over the Lumberjacks, hot off a 5-0 day at the Lancer Duals on Saturday. After starting down 0-6, Kenmore jumped out to a 30-12 lead with three pins and two forfeits highlighted by Nazir Motley’s pin at 118 over a returning sectional place winner. Kenmore won nine weights and collected five pins in the match. Just like this time last year, the 3-6 spots in the NFL standings are extremely competitive.
**HM St. Joe’s 40 – Spencerport (V) 30**
The Marauders went on the road and presented the always tough Rangers with a full lineup on Wednesday night. Eight Marauders claimed wins in the dual, four by way of pin. All five of Spencerport’s wins came by way of pin. Austin Zimmerman met the Rangers’ Section V finalist Ryan Cieslinski for the second time this season and was a winner by decision, 3-0, in a matchup of returning NYS tournament qualifiers. Since Christmas Day, the Marauders have been one of the hotter teams in the area posting good results at the Teike-Bernabi and Ripley tournaments while going 3-0 in duals. ‘Joe’s will host St. Francis for a huge Msgr. Martin showdown with big league title implications on the line at home on Friday, 1/20 for the annual Snake Pit feature match.
**#2 Niagara Wheatfield 72 – Lockport 0**
**#3 Niagara Falls 64 – Lewiston-Porter 9**
Although both Falls and Wheatfield will still have one more league dual remaining after next week, the Weds. 1/18 battle of 5-0 NFL squads in Sanborn will most likely end up determining the outright league champion. The teams battled in what may have been the match of the year on Saturday at the Section VI Duals, a 27-21 NW victory that could hardly get any closer, especially considering there were no forfeits in the dual.
**#3 Falconer/Cassadaga Valley 63 – Fredonia 11**
The Golden Cougars cruised to their 4th CCAA I win of the season on the road Wednesday. A massive showdown in Mayville looms next Weds. 1/18 where Falconer will put their eleven-year league title and 46 match league win streak on the line against the sectional champion Thunderbirds. CL has won each of their two meetings so far this season.
**Albion 36 – Akron 26**
Besides an Albion forfeit at 102 and a double forfeit at 110, the teams combined for eleven head to head bouts. The Purple Eagles won seven of those matches, five by pin, with a stretch of five straight wins from 118 to 145-pounds.
**#9 Wilson 36 – Barker/Royalton-Hartland 28**
The Lakemen notched one for the league win column on senior night. With a 33-16 lead and three weights left, Parker Selbert sealed the match for Wilson with a 10-5 decision at 132-pounds.
**Tonawanda 52 – Cheektowaga 15**
Two squads that have had challenges with participation in recent seasons contested ten bouts in their Weds. night ECIC III dual; a positive sign for both programs. Tonawanda accepted forfeits at 102 and 110 and Cheektowaga at 285. Tonawanda won eight of those ten contested bouts, five by pin. After going 0-6 in the division last season, Tonawanda is currently 3-2 in the league with only one conference match left on the schedule. Shoutout to head coach Jason Balling and staff for some nice work going on in the City.
**#9 Jamestown 42 – West Seneca/Depew 30**
After on 0-2 start in ECIC I, the Red Raiders have won their last three league duals in a row while conceding three to four forfeits in those duals. In only eight contested bouts on Wednesday, Jamestown won seven of those matches and five by pin which was critical for the Raiders as they had to concede four forfeits while receiving one. Jamestown will host the #7 Williamsville North/East Spartans on Weds. 1/25 in a very intriguing ECIC I dual that could have league title implications.
**#7 Iroquois 42 – Williamsville South 36**
**HM Portville 36 – Gowanda 27**
**HM Lake Shore 38 – Maryvale 9**
**Sweet Home 43 – East Aurora/Holland 28**
**Maple Grove 39 – Franklinville 22**
**Salamanca 36 – Dunkirk 30**
**CSAT @ Grand Island**
**Thursday, 1/12**
**CSAT 39 – Akron 30**
**Friday, 1/13**
**#9 Wilson 36 – Williamsville South 33**
