Dual meet results for the week of Monday, 12/3 – Thursday, 12/6/2018

Tuesday, 12/4/18

St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute 70 – St. Mary’s of Lancaster 3

Nine Marauders earned falls in both squads’ first Monsignor Martin league action of the season. Joe’s moves to 1-0 in the league. Besides a double forfeit at 99-pounds, St. Mary’s only yielded one forfeit in the loss. St. Mary’s falls to 0-1 in the MMHSAA league standings.

Clarence 54 – West Seneca West 22

The Red Devils defeated the Indians for the second time in four days, but this time in an ECIC I dual. The score was nearly identical as Saturday’s score (55-24 Red Devils). Clarence recorded five pins and two forfeits in the win. Jon Pallozzi and Mackenzie Rider earned ‘revenge’ victories over the same WSW opponents they lost to last Saturday. Clarence moves to 1-0 in league action.

Randolph 66 – Cattaraugus-Little Valley 6

Randolph earned a CCAA Div. II victory on Tuesday with a big win over the Timberwolves. The Cardinals earned seven pins in the win. Sam Grey was the lone C-LV winner on the night earning a first period pin. Randolph moves to 1-0 in the league.

Canisius 45 – East Aurora 42

The Crusaders earned a non-league win over the Red Devils on Tuesday with a win over the Blue Devils. Six crusaders pinned their opponents. Only five Blue Devils won head to head matchups on the night. Canisius is off to a hot 6-0 start now after going 5-0 at the Holley-Kendall duals last Saturday.

Wednesday, 12/5/2018

Lancaster 62 – Williamsville North 17

The Legends won their ECIC I opener on Wednesday. Lancaster won eleven out of fifteen bouts in the win. North drops to 0-1 in league action.

Pioneer 72 – Sweet Home 9

The Panthers were dominating in the ECIC II opener for both squads. Mike Rigerman saw his first live action of the season recording a pin for Pioneer.

Falconer 73 – Southwestern 12

The Golden Falcons earned their first CCAA Div. I win of the season over the rival Trojans on Wednesday. Falconer is 1-0 in league action.

Canisius 72 – Gow School 6

The Crusaders are 1-0 in MMHSAA action and 7-0 overall on the season. They’ll host St. Mary’s on Tuesday, December 11th in a MMHSAA dual.

Maryvale 67 – Alden 12

Maryvale welcomed Alden back to ECIC III with a dominating win at home on Wednesday night.

Fredonia 55 – Chautauqua Lake 24

Head coach Joe Santilli filled all but one weight class in a night where state tournament wildcard Giovanni Russo was missing from the lineup and had to yield a forfeit to defending Section VI champion Brendon Ramsey. The Hillbillies earned five pins, earned nine head to head wins, and two forfeits in a huge league victory. Matthew Marino Tournament champion Jake Skinner earned a 9-0 major decision win over state tournament wildcard Ben Szymanowksi at 220-pounds. Fredonia starts 1-0 in CCAA Div. I league action while the Thunderbirds fall to 0-1 to start the season.

Niagara Falls 65 – North Tonawanda 15

Wolverines won eleven out of fifteen weight classes and cruised to its second NFL win of the season. The ‘Jacks are 0-2 in NFL wrestling after two weeks. The Falls will host Lewiston-Porter in an NFL dual on Wednesday, 12/12.

Lake Shore 51 – Williamsville South 33

The Eagles earned an ECIC II win over the Billies on the road. Eight Lake Shore wrestlers including Kyle Killian and sectional finalist Julian Martin earned pins in the win to make the Eagles 1-0 in league action. South fielded a full lineup and collected three forfeits in the dual but it wasn’t enough to overcome a young up and coming Eagles squad. South is 0-2 in ECIC II.

Iroquois 46 – West Seneca West 24

In a non-league battle of two of WNY’s top big and small school teams, the Chiefs earned a quality win over the visiting Indians. Head coach Troy Almeter fielded a full lineup and gained three forfeits in the win. While five Chiefs earned pins, seven bouts were decided by decision on the night. Senior Cory Day earned his 200th career victory. West’s Kyle Bauer is undefeated on the season.

Frontier 66 – Jamestown 12

The Falcons traveled south on Wednesday and picked up an ECIC I win at Jamestown. Frontier recorded seven pins in the win and sit at 1-0 in the league.

Randolph 54 – Frewsburg 24

The Bears gave up only three forfeits (there were two double forfeits in the dual) to the Cardinals and earned three pins in head to head matches in a CCAA Div. II loss. For Frewsburg, the result was much improved after last season’s 75-4 loss to Randolph. Randolph leads the league with a 2-0 record.

Starpoint 48 – Depew/Cleveland Hill 39

Starpoint earned another ECIC II win on Wednesday. Depew yielded three forfeits to the Spartans but won seven head to head bouts, six of which were pins, to Starpoint’s four. The four Starpoint winners all earned pins. Even at 0-2 in league action, Depew has been scrappy in losses to Amherst and Starpoint and went 4-4 at the Sweet Home duals. Starpoint leads ECIC II with a 2-0 league record.

Hamburg 47 – Orchard Park 27

ECIC I and local rivals Hamburg and Orchard Park wrestled a full fifteen vs fifteen match on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs won the head to head and pin battle with nine bouts won and seven pins to earn their first league win of the season. The Quaker’s Mike Pataky and the Bulldog’s Ryan Forrest remain undefeated thus far.

Newfane 72 – Barker/Royalton-Hartland 16

Newfane is tied atop the N-O standings with Akron (both 2-0 in league action) after a commanding win over B/R-H.

Kenmore West/East 60 – Lewiston-Porter 30

Kenmore picked up an NFL victory over the Lancers to move to 1-1 in the league.

Thursday, 12/6/2018

Lancaster 44 – St. Joe’s 30

Lancaster toughed out a win at home against a seasoned Marauders squad. Joe’s jumped out to a 12-0 lead but head coach Ron Lorenz’s Legends kept cool and took the lead 23-12 after four straight wins. With only three bouts left Joe’s led 30-26 but a pin by Keenan Westfall and an injury default win by Ryan Stencel iced the match for the Legends who eventually won 44-30.

Maple Grove 65 – Cattaraugus-Little Valley 24

The Red Dragons won their CCAA Div. II opener on Thursday. There were only seven matches contested and Maple Grove won four bouts to C-LV’s three. Maple Grove fielded a wrestler at all but one weight class yielding a forfeit at only 170-pounds.
