Lancaster vs. Grand Island (Girls Lacrosse) 5 p.m.

The undefeated Grand Island Vikings will take their shot at knocking off the mighty Legends of Lancaster today. Lancaster is 4-0 so far this season. They started off with three big wins over Amherst, Eden/North Collins and East Aurora and then squeaked out a 16-12 win over defending Monsignor Martin champion, Nichols. Youngstown State commits Ava Kreutzer and Madison Maciag have combined for 37 goals. Grand Island is coming off an impressive 18-0 win over Mount St. Mary’s Tuesday. The Vikings are led by Ella and Lily Koslowski along with Olivia Fox.

East Aurora vs. Amherst (Boys Lacrosse) 6 p.m.

Both teams are fighting to remain in the top half of the Class C standings in this game. The East Aurora Blue Devils are 3-1 coming off an 11-10 loss to Lake Shore/Silver Creek before the break. Juniors Max Freier and Noah Osmanski are the Blue Devils’ leading scorers. Amherst is 5-1, beating Class C foes Sweet Home and North Tonawanda by three goals each.

Iroquois vs. Amherst (Baseball) 5 p.m.

The Amherst Tigers looking for the season sweep this afternoon after beating the Iroquois Chiefs 7-3 Wednesday. The Chiefs, who sit at 0-2, are the defending Class A2 champions. Their only other loss was a 5-3 decision to Frontier. Amherst is now 4-2, including splitting their league games with Sweet Home.

-Amherst Alumna Charleigh Rondeau broke the single-game and single-season draw control records for the Slippery Rock Women’s Lacrosse program this week.

-Reminder the WNY Athletics Baseball Day, which is raising funds for Depew Baseball coach Dennis Crawley, is coming up on April 30th and we’re still looking to donations/volunteers.
