The Favorite
Health Sciences/BASC/Charter
8-0 Overall, 7-0 in League Play
Too dominant across the board. The running game, unstoppable. It's going to take a monumental performance to keep Health out of Highmark this year.
The Contenders
McKinley Macks
6-2 Overall, 6-1 in League Play
Offense features one of the more mobile QB’s in the area. Kalaugn Ford can score from anywhere on the field and is a much improved passer. The Macks also have the combo of Anthony Moore III and Cardel Staples who have contributed on offense, defense and special teams. Kamron Minter and Jamere Hill have combined for a total of 31.5 sacks.
West Seneca West
7-1 Overall, 5-1 in League Play
The Warhawks have played a solid brand of ball all season. The O-line has done a tremendous job blocking for their freshman QB Mason Anderson. They have but one blemish on their record.
Williamsville North Spartans
6-2 Overall, 6-0 in League Play
Unbeaten in your division warrants respect. Despite early season losses to Class AA opponents, the Spartans regrouped, held their heads up and finished out the season on a 6 game winning streak. They have wins over WSW and most recently Clarence.
Williamsville East Flames
6-2 Overall, 5-2 in League Play
There’s some great leadership in that locker room and a lot of resolve. Nobody played Health Sciences tougher than Will East. They have a tough road to Highmark, maybe the toughest of all playoff teams. Not maybe, definitely.
Clarence Red Devils
5-3 Overall, 4-2 in League Play
Here’s a team that’s battle tested. Fresh off a loss to Will North, Clarence will need to put that behind them quickly and focus on McKinley if they’re going back to Highmark, they first need to deal with the Macks.
Dark Horse
Grand Island Vikings
5-3 Overall, 4-3 in League Play
There’s enough veteran leadership in that locker room and some of the best coaching in WNY to warrant a look here. If there is a team in WNY capable of pulling off a 1st round upset, it’s Grand Island.
Kenmore West Blue Devils
4-4 Overall, 2-4 in League Play
Harlem Brannon is one of the best players in WNY but he alone can’t beat Health Sciences. They’re going to need a miracle.
Stadium Prediction
Health Sciences/BASC/Charter 48, McKinley 20
